Beschreibung
Beginning, back in 2009, as a way of making live music available, free of charge, at an unusual hour, in a wonderfully atmospheric venue, Daylight Music’s Saturday afternoon concert series have grown to become one of London’s most beloved regular live music events. Massively over-subscribed by musicians of almost every imaginable stripe feverish to play before well-informed audiences at Highbury’s stunning Union Chapel, DM’s regular venue, the concerts habitually draw crowds in their hundreds and, indeed, DM has latterly become a glowing fixture of London’s live music culture and a unique social staple of a London Saturday – it’s deliciously homespun catering, child-friendly stance and welcoming ‘coffee morning’ ambience as much a part of the DM appeal as the eclectic musical menu on offer.
Now, after staging over 180 events, including concerts by everyone from Nils Frahm to The London Bulgarian Choir, Frank Sidebottom to The Guildhall Saxophone Ensemble, Lisa Knapp to Lætitia Sadier, Daylight Music is about to celebrate its fifth birthday in style. The festivities will pivot around a special birthday concert on, just for a change, the evening of September 12, featuring
Frank Chickens, Chaps Choir, Chris T-T, Gill Sandell, Samantha Whates and Oliver ‘Dollboy’ Cherer (along with a smattering of special surprise guests).
