The support group for's free Spotify app, available here.

This is the official support group for's Spotify app which you can either directly install for free from here or search in the Spotify desktop client with their App Finder. See also the developer blog and the Spotify news blog as well as the video below describing this app. For general questions about Spotify you can also check their community forums which are open for all users.

Some preliminary remarks:
You do not need this app for scrobbling from Spotify, as the Spotify desktop client has a native scrobbler (check "Edit" -> "Preferences") which also caches the scrobbles in case the submissions server is not available.

So you do not need the scrobbler either if you want to scrobble from Spotify, as the two clients are not directly connected and work independently from each other. But it can show you the wiki infos of the playing track like this app in the "Now Playing" tab when using both clients at the same time. The permanent info "Enable scrobbling by getting the for Spotify app" on top of the new scrobbler GUI includes an internal Spotify link. This is a shortcut to the login screen of the app where you can fill in your details which automatically copies them to the Preferences of the Spotify desktop software as well, but it does not mean that the app is doing the scrobbling now.

The Spotify apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone as well as the web player for your browser can also scrobble to, but do not feature a cache, so you lose your scrobbles if the connection to the server is not available. Furthermore they cannot use this or other external apps.

* Instant access to your favourite albums from the last three months, either individually or in an overall playlist.

* Your recently listened tracks instantly or saved as a playlist, see the "Overview" tab.
* Rich artist information and images from wikis while listening in the "Now Playing" tab.
* Seamless integration with new and existing profiles, e.g. love new tracks from the app in the "Now Playing" tab.

No, Spotify tags for artists, albums and tracks are not editable anywhere directly, you can only tell them about wrong names in their support forums. You could also suggest corrections on each track page, but this would be a huge task.

Can I change the music name (ID3)? I hate when I scrobble any song and there's "[2002 Remix blablabla]"

See the pinned Known Issues thread with a workaround. Using the direct export of all your loved tracks to a TSV file and converting it with Ivy usually is the better way anyhow.

Bad news for all external apps in the Spotify desktop software: please see the new pinned thread about the future of for Spotify and vote for the idea to keep the old app API in the desktop software for existing apps on their Community forum.

The Remastered Deluxe Editions including unreleased tracks of Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy are streamable on Spotify now. The first three albums were already available for several weeks.

The Lastfm Spotify app loses the "login connection" quite often, which results in having to login and accept the terms again (I suspect this actually occurs everytime Spotify "silently" installs a new version of the Desktop app). I've noticed this behaviour for at least a year now and I don't expect any improvement if nobody talks about this. I already emailed Spotify but the refer me to Lastfm because they say it's an app-specific problem. Could this please be put on the to-fix list?

There is a related setting in the web player: "Play links in the desktop app" which should be enabled as well.

Shame on me, totally missed that Spotify has finally "Come to Brazil!" since the end of May 2014. So all former radio streaming countries can at least use the Spotify on-demand playback feature on all pages showing tracks and the for Spotify app besides the web player with YouTube clips now.

The Remastered Deluxe Editions of the first three Led Zeppelin albums are streamable on Spotify now with unreleased tracks etc. Also great to see that the band is constantly in the Top 50 on since last December when Spotify added them to their catalogue.

By the way, if you have any old listening data collected in your media player (Windows Media Player, Winamp, iTunes or foobar), you can import that when creating a new account on But this does not work for Spotify, as they don't create a local database on your computer which the scrobbler software could read while being installed.

No, importing old data from Spotify is not possible, but you can at least look at your recent listening history in their desktop software under Queue -> History in the left-hand navigation bar. But it does not go back till the beginning and does not show dates either. @edubbwitthevdub: For learning without listening you could also access the artist wikis directly in your browser. Searching is possible either with the input field on top on every page or here:

Can you import previous music data from spotify to So you can see what you've been listening to the most during all the time you've been using spotify? I've been trying to find a way to do that for a while now, but maybe you can just see what you've been listening to since you connected it to Too bad in that case. :(
