just found OSI yesterday and downloaded "Blood" and I love it. The dark electronic/metal is exactly my style :)

jammindude: I see what you mean, but I still don't think it'd work... I'm far too weird about having correct metadata to want to change at this point (and I'm sure there are other similar and very different reasons for not wanting to bother changing), and I'm happy enough waiting for last.fm to actually be able to sort this out through the site as they mentioned when this incarnation of the site was first released. Also, this is definitely a much less awkward setup than some other bands (like Grendel) where there are/were arguments going on constantly about which band is better than the others and why their band should have the picture and not any of the others etc. But really I think it's the bands' fault for picking such a ridiculously popular name. Not that it's OSI's fault for picking a name someone already has; after all, how many people would figure that Osi was a name as well as an acronym?

I gotta admit, I wasn't a big fan of these guys when I first heard them a while back. After listening to them more and more though I really can't deny that there is just something great about OSI. The poppiness of the music turned me off at first but now I really feel like they have found a way to make that pop sound work.

@evilpandawrath: I can see your point....but based on interviews at the time of the debut albums release, and the info written in the description taken from Wikipedia....the band was named after The Office of Strategic Influence. Even if the band name is shortened to O.S.I., it is still an acronym. I only suggested the "full title" as a last resort if moving the info to a new profile (with the periods in place) was not possible. I don't see why it would be though....any computer should be able to distinguish Osi, from O.S.I.

actually the cover of their first album has both OSI and Office of Strategic Influence written on it. Naturally, since OSI has appeared on the covers of all their later albums, we're all going to assume that that's the one they're using as their "actual full name" rather than the lengthy, unwieldy "Office of Strategic Influence" which is in fact the name of the album. Perhaps those listening to the Israeli jazz singer should go by her full name, which is Osi Lewin. Though of course that isn't her stage name, which is Osi, so perhaps both should be left alone until last.fm figure out a way to separate out profiles like this.

If it is impossible to separate the proper name of the jazz singer (Osi) from the acronym O.S.I., then they need to create a profile under the artists *actual full name* which is Office of Strategic Influence....their first album is actually "self-titled".

jammindude
It is an acronym for Office of Strategic Influence....the periods are understood. Like FBI or VIP. One is a proper name, the other is an acronym....there is no reason for these artists to be under the same heading, it is NOT the same name as with some other entries.

There is a separate entry for O.S.I. with the periods. Now that that profile is in place, the O.S.I. music needs to be removed from the Osi profile.

Everyone needs to click on suggest a correction and have it changed to O.S.I. That would solve all the problems of these artists getting mixed up.

Obama? I thought it was Palin on that track. Nah - it's definitely the Opeth singer on Stockholm. I do agree it has a Katatonia-esque vibe in places, particularly when he's singing the single syllable sequences with the reverb effects, so I could see how somebody might mistake it for Renske if they're hearing certain sections of the track.

Also, I'm 100% sure it's Åkerfeldt on Stockholm. Renske doesn't sound like this.

I got these guys as a 'bonus' when I shopped CD's today, and.. Apart from the new Isis album, this is the best 'purchase' I've had today.

http://www.nonelouder.com/profiles/blogs/blood-at-the-crossroads-an Jim Mattheos: "I’d love to do [a tour]... The reality of it is in order to do it the way we would like to do it and present it the way we would want to present it... would cost too much money for the kind of fan base that we have right now. It just wouldn’t make sense at this point."

Strong album, but I would love to hear Kevin Moore cut loose on the vocals a little though. I almost get the feeling he doesn't have a lot of confidence in his singing, but if you listen to some of the earlier Chroma Key stuff, he is capable of hitting notes about an octave higher. (Take "On The Page", for instance.)
